Academic Adventures on the Adriatic: My Erasmus+ Experience at UNIDU

I was thrilled to spend time at the University of Dubrovnik this summer as part of the Erasmus+ KA171 mobility program, alongside my brilliant colleague and friend, Prof. Dr. Jasmine E. McNealy from the University of Florida. It was an incredible opportunity to share ideas, connect with international scholars, and dive into meaningful conversations about media, ethics, and audience engagement.

I had the pleasure of presenting a lecture on my latest research titled “The Logic of the Audience as an Antidote to the Crisis of Trust in Journalism.” It was deeply rewarding to discuss the benefits, challenges, and user perceptions of these digital spaces with such an engaged audience.

I also gave a lecture for Erasmus students on the topic “International News Flows in the Digital Age” and appeared in a new episode of the DU CHECK podcast to discuss therole of journalims for fack checking.

During our visit, we also toured the Adriatic Digital Media Observatory (ADMO) and the AXON Laboratory for Behavioral Research at the Faculty of Economics and Business. Seeing the innovative work being done there was truly inspiring and opened up exciting possibilities for future collaboration.

This experience reaffirmed the value of international academic exchange and the strength of the partnership between the University of Florida and the University of Dubrovnik. I’m grateful to be part of this growing collaboration and look forward to what’s ahead!
